I was thinking as I was watching TV over the past few days how the people of Japan have reacted to the earthquake, tsunami and now the potential nuclear meltdown that is looming. I watch the news and see the Japanese people very, very calm. While there is massive devastation all around -there has not been any thing shown on TV of looting or violence. I remember when Katrina hit and how everyone went crazy. And all you heard was people on TV bashing the government for not helping quick enough and complaining even though they had a somewhat dry environment to sleep in (the Super Dome), saw looting going on and violence. All I can think about is a segment I saw with Dianne Sawyer the other day as she visited with people who lost everything and one gentleman offered HER food. I think how gracious these people are and how selfish and ungrateful we are as Americans when I compare the two scenarios. Maybe we as a nation need to take some tips from Japan.
I pray for the people of Japan and what they are going through and what they will go through in the weeks, months and even years ahead.
