Will you Pay it Forward this Season?

I really didn't know what this Pintrest was all about until I actually got on it one day and looked around- then I was hooked! While I was looking at all the neat stuff, I ran across a blog. As I was reading the different posts, she had one on there about Advent and RAK (Random Acts of Kindness).
As I read it, I thought to myself how wonderful it would be if everyone was like this lady and stoppped to take a minute during this Christmas season to realize it is not about ourselves and what WE have it is about helping others who are less fortunate or who are alone or just need to hear a kind and uplifting word. I think we have all at one point or other been sucked into the "Keeping up with Jones'" mentality that each year has to be bigger and better than before. I am no exception I want my child to be the happiest child alive on Christmas day but I have to balance this somehow to make him understand that everyone is not so fortunate. I think this is the best gift I, as a parent, can give my child- a compassionate heart.
So, I have decided to follow what this lady did. Each day we will do a RAK. It will be small- nothing fancy because that is not what it is about. We may pay a book fine at the library, attach candy canes to a couple of windshields of cars, go visit a nursing home, pay someones order behind me (at Starbucks of course), tape quarters on a gumball machine and who knows what else. Maybe in doing this, it will bring a smile to someones face and a warmth to their heart and they will go and do it for someone else. Can you imagine what a better place this would be if each of us did just ONE Random Act of Kindness??
